A Working Reading List for 2010

Tonight I took some time to build my reading list for 2010. While some of these books I have skimmed before, my desire is to spend more time digging into the messages presented between the covers. In this list I have a combination of seven categories that parallel my personal growth plan (also in the works) ranging from various topics.

The secret is learning, not the obtainment of knowledge.  If we just read the pages and fail to apply the message in the text, then the knowledge we obtained is useless.

So, here’s to learning some new things again this year!

  • Loving Your Wife as Christ Loved the Church: Larry McCall
  • Covenant Marriage: Gary Chapman

  • His Needs Her Needs for Parents: Willard Harley
  • Bringing Up Boys: James Dobson
  • Dare to Discipline: James Dobson

  • The Total Money Makeover: Dave Ramsey

  • BodyMinder Workout and Exercise Journal: F.E. Wilkins

Spiritual Life

  • Too Busy Not to Pray: Bill Hybels
  • The Divine Commodity: Skye Jethani
  • Forgotten God: Francis Chan
  • Flickering Pixels: Shane Hipps

  • The Five Dysfunctions of a Team: Patrick Lencioni
  • 7 Practices of Effective Ministry: Andy Stanley

  • To Own a Dragon: Donald Miller
  • Peace Like a River: Leif Enger
  • Edner’s Game: Orson Scott Card
  • Outliers: Malcolm Gladwell

17 right now, what am I missing?  What would you add to the list?

I am currently waiting for Flickering Pixels to arrive in the mail:) and also started “Crazy Love” today by Francis Chan. Have you read it?

Looks like a great list ahead for 2012!

I enjoyed Crazy Love. Pretty good stuff if we live it out. You’ll have to let me know your thoughts.
