Studio Blog: Day 2 and 3

So Saturday was such a busy day that I couldn’t get to the computer to get anything on the blog.

So here’s a studio update…

Friday/Saturday Morning: Cory came over to unload drums around 6:00 p.m. Friday night. Bethany and I had small groups at 7:30 so Cory stayed at the house to do small tuning adjustments and other various set-ups stuff on his drum kit. Bethany and I got home after small groups around 10:00. I went upstairs to check on Cory. He said the kit was, “good to go”, so he went home for the night. I stayed up to wait for Justin to get in from D.C. and Bethany, being pregnant and needing her beauty sleep, went to bed. Justin ended up getting in at 3:00 a.m., we loaded everything in, and set up a few drum mics. At about 3:45 a.m. we decided that was enough for the evening and headed to bed for some much needed rest.

Saturday: Saturday we continued set-up around 8:00 a.m. Cory and Justin did some tuning work on the drum kit. We finally started recording drums shortly after lunch. We got three songs completely done by 10:00 p.m. then decided that was going to be enough for the night as we were losing an hour due to the time change and church the next morning. We also realized that we were exhausted from the night before and needed to catch up on a little sleep.

Here’s a clip of Cory tracking the drums from Saturday:

Sunday: We headed to church Sunday morning, Justin stayed back to do some drum work so we could record the bass later in the evening. After we got home from church, Cory was back on the ball banging out the next two songs. I headed off to GeNESIS around 4:45 p.m. as the boys finished the last drum track. I got home from youth group and the guys were starting to work on the bass material which is where I jumped in with joy and the recording process continues to roll on.

Here’s a tiny tour of our upstairs “studio”:

Tomorrow we finish bass material and moving on to some rhythm guitars. Can’t wait to hear the finished product. Patience Jordan, patience.

I’ll keep ya posted. Keep praying.
