There is nothing worse than the feeling of being paralyzed with fear. The inability to move based on an emotion amazes me. The The Bible speaks magnitudes on the concept of being afraid.  While at times the emotion is to be encouraged (fear the Lord), there are also times in which fear needs to be overcome (do not be afraid for I [GOD] am with you).

Healthy Fear

  • Psalm 111:10: Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and leads to good understanding
  • Proverbs 1:7: You would be foolish to despise wisdom and discipline (fear the Lord).
  • Proverbs 19:23: Fear of the Lord leads to life, rest, peace, and contentment.
  • Proverbs 14:26-27: Fear of the Lord is is the fountain of life that provides a security and a place of safety.

Unhealthy Fear

  • 1 John 4:18: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love
  • Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.
  • Matthew 10:31: “So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows
  • Psalm 56:11: “In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

I will trust in God because I know and understands the power of God. To overcome fear is to respond to God in total and complete trust. When I trusting God, I refuse to give in to fear.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.” -Job 13:15

A New Year/a new day should always start with a renewed confidence in Christ, not in an inability to move because of fear.

Think about it.
